Steve’s Flowers and Gifts Inc. was founded in 1973 by Steve and Linda Huth. As Steve was attending college, he worked for a local flower shop, delivering, doing odd jobs, and eventually designing. Steve had dreams of opening his own floral facility on the south side of Indianapolis, and when opportunity came, he went to work to make it happen. His philosophy from the start was making sure his customers were happily satisfied. The dedication and commitment towards his goal allowed Steve to move into a larger facility in 1976, and opened a second location in the fast growing town of Greenwood in 1982. In October of 1988, Steve designed and had built his own building which consists of 7,000 square feet.

World Senior Citizen’s Day

United States President Ronald Reagan signed the formal proclamation to create Senior Citizens Day on August 19, 1988. Upon his announcement he made these comments:

“For all that, they have achieved throughout their lives and for all that they continue to do, we owe our gratitude and sincere greetings to our senior citizens. We can show our gratitude and appreciation better by making sure our communities are good places. Age and maturity, places where older people can participate as much as possible and find the encouragement, acceptance, support and services they need to continue living a life of independence and dignity.”

Our senior citizens have contributed so much in their many years. This special day is an official way to honor their accomplishments and to raise awareness for the care of the aging. The loving devotion and role modeling these wonderful seniors have provided to their children and other young people they mentored is a lasting blessing.

National Kiss and Make Up Day

On August 25th, you have the perfect opportunity to end any arguments with someone. And if the someone happens to be your significant other, perhaps a bit of kissing might be in order. From a purely scientific and chemical perspective, studies have shown the kissing releases serotonin, dopamine and oxytocin. These are other wise know as feel good elixirs and can do wonders for a relationship that has been under the stress of a disagreement.

From Hilton New York, Jacqueline Milgate had a passion for wanting to see people with healthy and happy relationships. Kiss and Make Up Day was founded and promoted by her as a special day that would provide lovers a day to focus on patching any wounds in their relationship.

In addition to loved ones, relationships of a more casual nature are extremely important as well. Whether co-workers, teammates, college dorm roommate  or just a great friend, sincere and heartfelt apologies can go along way to break a silence and start the healing process.

Just Because Day

Spontaneity can be the spice of life according to many people.  One such person was a man by the name of Joseph J. Goodwin of Los Gatos California.  He is credited with coming up with the very first Just Because Day.  Mr. Goodwin came up with the idea of Just Because Day during the early sixties. He felt that family and friends should celebrate life in a spontaneous way and not only at the traditional holidays. Now we have an annual Nationwide celebration day just because.

There is often difficulty in perception of a whimsical day called Just Because Day. We are in a changing world now which makes it even more challenging, Couple that with goals and objectives that we must each be accountable for on our jobs, raising a family and just the everyday work load that sometimes seems endless. The point of a day like this however is to spread positive feelings and joy not only to others but also to yourself.

There are so many spontaneous and fun things you can do. Just being a little silly in your actions or dress can be fun. Taking an unplanned road trip or surprising a friend with a gift. COVID-19
As of May 4, 2020 our Indianapolis location has re-opened from 8 am to 6 pm, and our Greenwood and Pendleton locations are re-opening back to regular hours of 9 am to 6 pm. We are still offering curb-side service at your convenience, and as an additional precaution, we’re offering no-contact delivery for those who prefer it. Upon request, our delivery drivers will contact recipients in advance to arrange delivery, leaving the package at the door at the request of the recipient or sender.
