Easter is such a wonderful and much anticipated holiday. It occurs on different dates from year to year and in 2021 Easter falls on April 4th. The reason for this change is that Easter always falls on the first Sunday after the first full moon following the spring equinox. Easter, as with other holidays, ushers in a changing of the seasons. In the Jewish faith, this time is referred to as Passover. The Hebrew Bible commemorates Passover as a festival which celebrates the liberation of the Jewish people from slavery in Egypt. This is referenced in the Book of Exodus. During the time of Jesus, Jewish pilgrims flocked to Jerusalem in hope that God would liberate them from the Romans. On one Passover, Jesus traveled to Jerusalem and the resulting disturbance in the Temple ultimately led to his crucifixion.

In early America, the Easter festival was more celebrated by Catholics than Protestants. The Puritans of New England considered both Easter and Christmas as festivals for heavy drinking and merrymaking. However, by the 19th century this belief had changed and the holidays became a time to spend joyous moments with family. Today customary traditions of Easter Egg Hunting, Parades and the Easter Bunny have become the norm.

About Steve’s Flowers and Gifts

Founded in 1973 by Steve and Linda Huth, Steve’s Flowers and Gifts was a dream come true made possible by hard work and dedication. During Steve’s college years he worked at a local flower shop to earn money. He was willing and eager to do the jobs of delivery and other odd jobs. His time at the flower shop revealed to Steve that he had a passion for this industry. Once he worked his way into flower arrangement design he was hooked.

Encompassing the necessary traits of great work ethic, passion and a love for pleasing customers, Steve was a natural. His philosophy from the start was making sure his customers were not just satisfied but in fact delighted. The dedication and commitment towards his goal allowed Steve to move into a larger facility in 1976, and he opened a second location in the fast growing town of Greenwood in 1982. In October of 1988, Steve designed and had built his own building which consists of 7,000 square feet.

With greenhouse, card and gift display area, design room, plant department, and a large receiving and delivery area, he supplies his customers with exceptional service and a comfortable setting for shopping and browsing. Through the years, Steve has strived for excellent quality in designs, which led to the expansion of the original location in 1999. Expanding this location 3,000 more square feet enabled Steve to have a larger design center to monitor quality control and ensure customer satisfaction.
