Indiana Fourth of July 2020

As in all parts of the country and the world for that matter, the pandemic has changed the normal course of activities. Typically the Fourth of July is a festive occasion with large crowds applauding fireworks and attending music festivals. Now with social distancing and the precautionary measures we must all take, things are a little different. However, it is also a time to be creative and find alternative ways to celebrate life and special occasions.

While several towns and cities in Indiana have elected to cancel publicly attended 4th of July events, Governor Eric Holcomb has worked to reopen the state by July 4th. Some of the events while slightly modified are listed below. It will be a great Fourth of July in Indianapolis and Indiana.

• CarmelFest – While the traditional parade is cancelled there will still be fireworks. Safe vantage points are being worked out and the fireworks will be televised.
• Independence Day Celebration at Victory Field – The baseball teams will not be taking the field but there are still hopes for a fireworks celebration.
• All -American July 4th Celebration – The celebration in Zionsville is still scheduled to take place. The local Lions Club hosts this event each year and it features bounce houses, food, live entertainment and more. Fireworks begin at 10 p.m.
• Blast on the Bridge – In Geist there will not be the traditional event including food vendors and entertainment but plans for a great fireworks display are still firm.
• Boone County Fourth of July – Plans for the R.O.C.K. in the USA themed celebration are underway. This is event in Lebanon will be closely planned with input from local and state officials. Fireworks are normally set off in the Lebanon Memorial Park.
• Fourth of July Parade and Fireworks Festival – Following CDC guidelines, the town of Noblesville has plans for The Stars & Stripes Forever Parade followed by a concert by Boy Band Review. Of course the evening will be spectacularly concluded with fireworks.

There are numerous other events like Lights Over Morse Lake Festival in Cicero, Spark!Fishers, All American Day in the Park in Beech Grove, Greenwood Freedom Festival, Shelby County Fair and the list goes on.
