National Sweetest Day
Are you aware that the third Saturday in October is observed as National Sweetest Day? Yes it is true that this day is celebrated mostly in the Midwestern United States and parts of the Northeastern US, but also in parts of northern Florida. It is a day to share romantic deeds, expressions and in general just do something kind and thoughtful for someone else. There are a total of 12 states that have an observance of National Sweetest Day. Those states are Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin, West Virginia and parts of New York, Pennsylvania and Florida.
Sweetest Day is a busy time for candy makers, greeting card companies and florists. Similar to Valentine’s Day, Sweetest Day is associated with flowers, plants and heart- shaped boxes of candy. This group of generous companies included the Detroit Retail Confectioners, Detroit Wholesale Confections Club, Detroit Jobbing Confectioners Association, and the Michigan Confectioners Club.
