The first state in our union to designate Labor Day as a public holiday was Oregon in 1887. By 1994 it was designated as a federal holiday and thirty states recognized Labor Day. Now it is a traditional holiday recognized by all states. Celebrated the first Monday in September, Labor Day honors the American workers contributions to the development, growth, endurance, strength, security, prosperity, productivity, sustainability, persistence, structure, and well-being of the country.
While some feel it is a bitter sweet holiday because Labor Day signifies the end of summer and the start of a new school year, it is still celebrated by family picnics, barbecues and trips to the beach. In the fashion industry, Labor Day is considered the last day of the year when it is acceptable to wear white. Though not everyone strictly adheres to that fashion guideline.

Steve and Linda Huth started Steve’s Flowers and Gifts in 1973. These two hard working people have have the philosophy that making sure customers are not just satisfied but in fact delighted, will bring them back consistently to buy all of their floral products. The dedication and commitment towards this goal allowed the Huth’s to move into a larger facility in 1976, and open a second location in the fast growing town of Greenwood in 1982. In October of 1988, Steve designed and had built their own building which consists of 7,000 square feet.
The company has a greenhouse, card and gift display area, design room, plant department, and a large receiving and delivery area. This makes for a wonderful client experience. All customers are accommodated with with exceptional service and a comfortable setting for shopping and browsing. Through the years, Steve has strived for excellent quality in designs, which led to the expansion of the original location in 1999. Expanding this location 3,000 more square feet enabled Steve to have a larger design center to monitor quality control and ensure customer satisfaction.
